Yesterday we arrived in Walla Walla Washington leaving Oregon for the last time. It was basically a travel day - 56 miles. And we baked once noontime rolled around. It is hot - up near 90, without a cloud in the sky or a tree near by. It's forecasted to get back up into the 90s again early this week. Today is a rest day.
But overall we are doing well, getting stronger, and enjoying the people and countryside. Folks around here have been very friendly and interesting. Our plan from here is to get most if not all of our riding done by noon. We head out again tomorrow after a great day of rest including a really good church service at Life church this morning. Followed by a great breakfast of black beans, eggs, cheese, rise, salsa and Mexican spices all mixed together in a bowl. This area has a strong Hispanic influence which is reflected in the food. Tastes good to me.
The countryside continues to amaze me in its barrenness. There is absolutely nothing like it in New England.
The original plan was to arrive in Spokane around June 17th. We are right on track in spite of the heat. We're really looking forward to seeing the mountains of northern Idaho and western Montana.
Total miles 459.
