God watched over us today

Today we biked 86 miles to Umatillla Oregon (total 403 miles). Got an Early start which turned out to be a good thing for a few reasons. The first was to beat the heat. We had breakfast at the Mini Mart in Roosevelt, WA. It's one of those places you probably wouldn't stop at if you driving however on bicycle it's literally the only place for miles around. And besides the food is really good. They also have a cyclist journal where all the cyclists passing through write something. It made for some very interesting reading.

The countryside continued to become browner.

The second good reason for our early start was mechanical failure. Fairly serious actually and we have much to be thankful for that neither Marcia or I were seriously hurt. God was watching out for us and we have much to be thankful for. My (the captain's) handlebars broke. Thankfully a bike shop in Walla Walla (80 miles away) was willing to drive out and repair the tandem.

Tomorrow we plan to ride to Walla Walla and probably take a day off on Sunday before turning north toward Spokane.

  2. The thought of what could have happened on some step curving road at high speed is horrifying. Had to be God watching you. Keep taking time to rest when needed. jeanette and I will keep you in our prayers
