Badlands to Grasslands

We have finished today's ride in a little town called Hebron. We have set up camp in the city park. Hebron appears to be a nice town and as I sit here on a park bench I am greeted by the laughter of children playing in the town pool. The park is green as are the lawns of the homes surrounding the park. This town is not nearly as "dusty" as the many towns we have passed through before. Fields have become greener, trees are increasing and we noted our first dairy farm we have seen in a long time. As you can guess, I really like green especially after bicycling through our arid west.

We did get a chance to view the Painted Canyon (part of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park). It is an impressive panorama of reddish rock formations unlike anything back east. It was well worth our detour to view.

We are also now in central time.

Miles today = 79

Total miles = 1702
