Bicycle Bunk House

We left Bowles bright and early this morning and crossed the Mississippi within just a few miles. It was pretty well shrouded in fog as was the road we were riding.

The fog stayed with us and kept us quite damp and cool until late morning. The land we are riding through is now very green and forested. The folks who live here also speak of high levels of rain this year which is evident by flooded fields and wet lands.

We are currently at the Bicycle Bunk House. It was started and run by a gentleman by the name of Donn Olson. He's a farmer who converted an unused barn into a bunkhouse for cross country cyclists. He's done an incredible job with it and we feel both comfortable and welcome. There's even all kinds of food here! Donn took us for a tour of his "back yard". It was beautiful - especially his woods. He cuts his own fire wood primarily from blow downs so his woods are comprised of very large trees with clean underbrush. It's very green, shady and welcoming.
