Our first century

Today was a day of contrasts. Not in scenery but in riding conditions. The land continues to be flat slightly rolling grass land. But we began the day with calm winds and hazy skies. Then we hit a head wind and it felt like we were pedaling through molasses. It was so demoralizing - our top speed suddenly became 8 mph. That lasted for a few hours at the end of which we began noticing dark storm clouds with occasional thunder. We were fortunate that we only encountered sprinkles that were actually refreshing when compared to the heat we have encountered. Along with the storm clouds the wind shifted and suddenly helped us rather than hinder. The sun finally came out at the end of the day and heated things up. The final mileage at the end of the day came in at 105. Our first century!

Total miles = 1242
